Beginner's Guide: What to Expect in Your First Class at NEXTFIT

By Gurpreet Singh · March 15, 2026 · 6 min read

Walking into a gym for the first time can be intimidating. You don't know what to expect, you're worried about looking silly, and you're wondering if everyone there is already super fit. Let us put your mind at ease.

At NEXTFIT, every single member — including our fittest athletes — was once a beginner. And our entire system is designed to make your first experience comfortable, safe, and enjoyable.

Step 1: Arriving at the Gym

Show up about 10 minutes before class. Wear comfortable workout clothes and athletic shoes. Bring a water bottle and a towel. That's it — we provide everything else.

When you walk in, a coach will greet you, show you around the facility, and learn about your fitness background and any injuries. There's zero judgment — whether you haven't exercised in years or you're transitioning from another gym.

Step 2: The Warm-Up (10 minutes)

Every session starts with a structured warm-up that prepares your body for the workout ahead. This typically includes:

The warm-up is designed to gradually increase your heart rate, loosen your joints, and activate the muscles you'll be using.

Step 3: Skill or Strength Portion (15 minutes)

Before the main workout, you'll practice a specific skill or work on building strength. This could be practicing proper squat technique, learning how to do a push-up correctly, or working on your deadlift form.

The coach demonstrates every movement and then walks around the room correcting form individually. As a beginner, you'll receive extra attention to ensure you're moving safely.

Step 4: The Workout of the Day (15–20 minutes)

This is the main event — a structured workout that combines various movements at an appropriate intensity. Workouts are designed to challenge you but are always scalable.

"Scaling means every workout can be adjusted to your ability. If the class is doing pull-ups, you might do ring rows. If they're lifting 60kg, you might start with 20kg. Same workout, same intensity — just different loads."

Your coach will tell you exactly what to do, how many reps, and what weight to use. You never have to figure anything out on your own.

Step 5: Cool Down (5 minutes)

After the workout, the coach guides you through a cool-down consisting of stretching, foam rolling, and breathing exercises to help your body recover.

What About Safety?

Safety is our top priority. Our coaches are certified and experienced in working with all fitness levels. Every movement is taught progressively — you master the basics before moving to advanced versions. And the coach-to-member ratio ensures everyone gets individual attention.
